ART + TECHNOLOGY
As an artist I have always been drawn towards the crossover between human and machine. I have been filled with a sense of intrigue, but also dread at how new technology and ways of interaction can cause dissociation from ourselves, each other, and the world around us. This dissociation at a global scale can be seen from how we are treating our natural environment with incredible disregard - we fetishize technology and space travel while ignoring global warming and the devastation that is already being caused.
I believe virtual artworks could be instrumental in creating more awareness about environment protection and wildlife conservation for the coming generations. Allowing people to be immersed in realistic environments from any location in the world will make the world feel more ‘theirs’ instead of an abstract concept.
In order to generate interest in protecting the environment, we must create change in the perception of our natural world. I hope to decrease the dissociation created by technology, to create a sense of wonder and higher regard for preservation, to try and protect our future.
